Score a 10% ICBC Discount with a New Honda

In British Columbia, drivers are pretty used to paying exorbitant auto insurance premiums. For some of us, monthly car insurance premiums can even cost more than our monthly finance or lease payments. This expenditure can make it prohibitively expensive to drive, especially for people with higher driver risk factor due to inexperience or age.

There is the traditional way to lower insurance premiums by racking up years of accident-free driving, potentially reducing the risk factor and building a discount. This usually takes many years to lead to anything substantial.

However, what if I told you there was a way to get a considerable discount on your basic ICBC premium without having to wait years? It all comes down to the advanced safety technology that's integrated into nearly every new Honda. Through the Honda Sensing safety suite, you can save money on your insurance as soon as you insure a suitably equipped Honda.

ICBC recognizes that innovation in safety technology reduces the likelihood of severe crashes. A vehicle equipped with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) is allowed 10% off basic ICBC coverage. AEB is the same type of technology as the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) as a part of Honda Sensing. When CMBS detects that a crash with a vehicle or pedestrian is imminent, it works to reduce the severity and likelihood of a frontal impact by automatically applying the brakes.

The discount is not automatically applied, so speak with your insurance agent to find out if your Honda qualifies for the AEB incentive.

Honda Sensing features the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) which is an equivalent to AEB. It works to reduce the likelihood and severity of a frontal impact with another vehicle or pedestrian by automatically applying the brakes if it detects that a crash is inevitable. The best part is that all Honda models have Honda Sensing available!
